How do you show Jesus you love him?
How do we show Jesus that we love him? Some of the common answers that will come up are: serve others, read the Bible, pray, and sing his praises. Look at all these answers, everyone of them has one thing in common: Jesus commanding us to. “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21. for this verse I used new king James version along with other verse' I will be quoting
we find God and Jesus telling us over and over again in the Bible what to do, how to show our love! Like in Matthew 22:36-39 Jesus is asked: “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
that’s not the only place. In Exodus 20 God gives Moses the ten commandments. There God actually gives us a list of things to do and no to do. Like do not steal, miss use the name of the Lord, don’t worship any other gods before Himself. But He dose not just give us stuff not to do he also gives us rules on what to do like honor your father and mother.
Now with such simple laws to follow given to us by the One who created us and everything around us. Why is it so hard to follow? Probably some will say because we are only human, and a few will claim they have kept all these things. And I am sure that a big majority of us have not stolen, or murdered, or worshiped false Gods, and probably a lot of us honor our father and mother. But in this world there are people who have.
Earlier I referenced john 14:21 and I really like that verse so I will be saying it again “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” in the new international version it says: “and I too will love him and show myself to him”
now there are a lot of verse' in the bible that are similar to john 14:21. Which says to me that God really wants to get the point across, that to show your love to him and his son you have to follow his commands. On of those verse' is just a few passages higher in john chapter 14. its is john 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” here is another one “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” John 15:10 this one Jesus gives the example of him doing the same. He keeps his fathers commands and he keeps his fathers love. Yet another verse is 1 john 5:3 “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome”. These are just some of the many.
I hope personally that everyone who listens to or reads this will obey the Lords commands and will love Jesus more.
